As expected, the Lagos State Government has appointed MC Oluomo, the sacked chairman of Lagos NUTRW, as its Park Stewardship Council chair.

In addition, former assistant police chief Hakeem Odumosu was appointed as the liaison officer between the government and the commission.

This is contained in a press statement from Lagos State Information and Strategy Commissioner Gbenga Omotoso, titled “Lagos Government to set up Park Stewardship Council”:

The Lagos State Government has established a committee to oversee all car parks and garages in the state.

This is in keeping with the government’s commitment to ensure that incidents in the National Road Transport Workers’ Union (NURTW) do not threaten law and order.

Therefore, the government has exercised its constitutional power to ensure that there is no vacuum within the park that could disrupt the peace of our dear country.

This is our responsibility to all Lagos and tourists.

Members of the committee, elected in consultation with stakeholders in the industry, include:

The government suspended NURTW operations at all parks and garages on March 10 after some incidents in the union sparked tensions.
