A Louisiana pastor and religious school principal who participated in the Survivor’s Game is now facing multiple charges for disrupting alleged conduct toward students.

John Raymond, 60, was jailed Thursday after turning himself in in Slidell, Louisiana, where authorities said he would put duct tape over the mouths of young students for talking too much.

Police in the town said they received a complaint from the state Department of Family Services alleging possible abuse at Lakeside Christian School.

School principal Raymond is accused of duct tape over the mouths of three 13-year-old pupils to teach them a lesson.

“On March 18, several students were dismissed due to excessive speech,” the statement read. ‘John Raymond was furious and took the students to his office. At some point, Raymond took a roll of packing tape and wrapped the students’ mouths around their heads.

Raymond, the school’s principal, appeared in the fifth season of “Survivor” in 2002, where he was accused of tape-tapping the mouths of three 13-year-old students to teach them a lesson

They then claim he made the students sit in the back of the classroom for about 45 minutes, when another school official got upset and removed the tape.

“During the encounter, the students claimed they had difficulty breathing and the removal was painful,” the statement continued.

In a text message to PEOPLE, Raymond said he would make any public statements on the allegations by next week.

Raymond was a contestant on the fifth season of “Survivor” filmed in Thailand in 2002. He was the first contestant to vote on the island.

Lakeside Christian Elementary has yet to issue a statement on Raymond’s status.
